SF New CD Near Completion

Big news, folks.  The new Successful Failures CD, Three Nights, is complete.  We started the recording process way back in January 2009… so it’s been a long run, late nights, technical breakdowns, artisitic revelations, lots of mistakes and scrapped ideas, and so on… now we can’t hardly wait for everyone to hear it.  Since we started recording this one John ran a marathon or two, Rob explored Alaska in a kayak, Ron learned to play the piano, mandolin & harmonica, and I wrote 73 new songs.  The CD is currently being mass duplicated – expect a March 2010 release date.    Check out the album cover below featuring a collage I put together representing some of the themes/content of the tunes.  – Mick  

SF BACK IN THE STUDIO…

The Successful Failures are currently holed up in the FDR Label Studio embarking on their next recording project – the follow-up to last year’s “Ripe for the Burning”. The band is very excited to finally be producing the backlog of tracks that they’ve been rehearsing (and in some cases, playing live) for months now. Stay tuned for more info coming soon!

NEW SINGLE/EP AVAILABLE ON iTUNES

While the band is busy at work following up last year’s “Ripe for the Burning”, the Successful Failures have released a few songs that remain from the “Ripe” sessions. “Time to Sell” is a new 3-song, digital-only single which includes the title track (actually, one of the first songs written for “Ripe”) as well as “Fishing Boat Picture” and a live track of “Your Cheatin’ Heart” – a cover of the Hank Williams classic recorded last year in Madison, Wisconsin. The single is available at iTunes as well as CDBaby. Download and enjoy!

Now available…”RIPE FOR THE BURNING”

The sophmore effort featuring the new singles “Bridges Over the Delaware“, “Never Moving Out” and “All I Can Take” (recorded with Don Coffey, Jr. in Knoxville, TN) will be released on Mischief Night 2007. The band will celebrate the release with shows in Philadelphia, PA and quite possibly Wash., D.C. as well. SF Contribute to FDR Compilation

       The Successful Failures can be heard on FDR Label’s “About a Girl” compilation, an album of Indie-Rock covers of songs featuring Girl’s names in the title. SF have contributed a melodic Roots-Rock version of Big Star’s “O, Dana” to the CD which is now availble through FDR and CDBaby.

EP / CD SINGLE NOW AVAILABLE

The Successful Failures will release a 5 song EP/Advanced single on September 4, 2007 which features the new song, “Bridges Over the Delaware”, from the upcoming full length CD titled “Ripe for the Burning”. In addition, the EP also includes two excluive studio tracks including the superjangly “The Girl Who Never Smiled” and live versions of “Sewer Water” and “God Knows”.
