Successful Failures Recording Project

SF has begun recording our new album – we’re taking a break from live shows for a few months to concentrate solely on this project.  As of this writing (Ides of March) we have 11 drum tracks down.  Plan is to record about another 10 or so songs.  We’re in the process now of recording guitars and vocals.  I’m also documenting the sessions with my Flip camera and plan to piece together a little “How to Make a  Successful Failures’ Album” documentary video.  New song titles – “Viking Hereoes“,  “Real Defenders“, “Pig Tight Cattle High“, “Ballad of Julio Cuellar“, and “Tell Your Old Friends“.  Alright, back to work.  Thanks for reading and we’ll see you soon! – Mick

This will be our last show for quite a while – we’ve started recording a new album and will be focusing on getting that done.  So… please come out to the best record store in the universe to catch our show. Also appearing, the great NJ band Smash Palace.  Visit the Record Collector online for tickets at www.the-record-collector.com  Doors open at 7:30.  SF on first.  Tickets $12.00 in advance and $15.00 at door.  On select tunes we’ll be joined by special guest Harmonica Tim Martz as well.  Guaranteed fun.  See ya there, – Mick

New SF Single

We are excited to make our first music release of the new year.  The new song – “Liar in the Room” was recorded for the Three Nights album but didn’t quite fit in with the other tracks. I wanted it to sound like an old Nick Lowe tune like “Cruel to be Kind”. I recently finished tracking and mixing the song and I love the way it came out. “Liar in the Room” is available for a limited time as a free digital download (or name your own price and help the cause). “Liar…” will be up on iTunes and other vendors but grab it now from us for your price or no price! Free SF MP3s

Download free SF music on the FDR Label site.  We just posted three songs recorded last week at our Black Friday show in Philadelphia, PA (“Leave Me in the Coma“, “Sun Makes Circles“, and Steve Earle cover “Here I Am“).  Also available for download – the very first SF song (recorded way back in ’98, eight years before the band was actually formed) – “Hick Bars“.  While you’re there, download the version of Teenage Fanclub’s song “Don’t Look Back” that we recorded this summer with our firend Lauree McArdle.  Download the songs here.  – Mick

New SF Poster

We are thrilled to unveil our new promo poster for this year’s Black Friday Show.  Local NJ Graphic Design Artist, Laura Baird, worked with us on this one.  Laura designs posters and flyers for the Record Collector.  Really cool stuff – we look forward to working with Laura on future projects!  In other news… the Successful Failures have donated a live recording of a set from this summer to The 3rd Annual Banding Together: Benefit Webathon for The Spondylitis Association Of America.  Tune into BlowUpRadio or The Penguin Rocks this Saturday 10/16/10 at 7:15 to listen to the Successful Failures.     – Mick
