Music Video Release Show

Last month The Successful Failures made a video for our song “It’s the Turnpike” with our friend George Morgan. We filmed the thing in one epic day… starting in NYC and actually driving down the NJTP to Rob’s place in Pine Hill, filming it all. We are releasing the video on June 7th with an unveiling at the Legendary Dobbs (formerly known as JC Dobbs) on South Street in Philadelphia. The video viewing will be followed by a rocking set of rock by the band. Show starts at 8:00 but get there a few minutes early to enjoy a drink with the band and to watch the video on the big screen at Dobbs. Check out this 20 second teaser/preview of the video:

Chesterfield Musician Strikes all the Right Chords?

Story on me in local NJ paper.  Here’s the link – Mick “In a quiet, secluded residential neighborhood, Mick Chorba is making a lot of noise. By day, he teaches English at the Northern Burlington County Regional Middle School in Mansfield. By night, he doubles as a successful record label owner and prospering musician. FDR Label is his business. Indie rock bands such as the Dipsomaniacs and the Successful Failures are his identity. In his spare time away from the classroom, the 41-year-old singer-songwriter has found his niche creating and performing catchy tunes that were written and produced at his home studio in Chesterfield. “I definitely like being involved in the music more than the business side of it,” said Chorba, describing how he balances the label and his band’s performances….” and on it goes.

The Real Defenders of the Acropolis

The Successful Failures have released a new five song ep called The Real Defenders of the Acropolis. The Real Defenders of the Acropolis is the acoustic / blue grass alter ego of The Successful Failures. The 5-song EP features acoustic versions of three Successful Failures’ songs, one version of a Dipsomaniacs’ song , and a previously unreleased track (“Awful Lonesome”). The band features Mick on guitar, vocals, and bass. Ron Bechamps picks up the mandolin and sings harmony, Greg Potter (Blank Pages) plays lead guitar, and Tim Martz plays the harmonica. The album was recorded by Paul Crane (Bastards of Melody) on August 8th 2010 in a small room in NJ. The band is celebrating the relase of the CD with a special show in Pitman, NJ at the Bus Stop Music Cafe (148 S Broadway, Pitman, NJ 08071) on Friday May 13th.
