about

JERSEY BEAT 77 SUCCESSFUL FAILURES (Face Down Records) Originally a side project for the Dipsomaniacs’ (and FDR label owner) Mick Chorba, the Successful Failures eventually took on a life of their own and the result is this delight dozen-track CD of concise, catchy power-pop, redolent with hooks, wit, and big trebley guitars. From the self-deprecating loser-in-love lament “Letting The Terrorists Win” to the band’s theme song, “Successful Failures” to the twangy alt-country “Hick Bars,” this eponymous debut crackles with a hearty sense of humor, an abundant command of melody, and clever, biting lyrics. For fans of Bastards of Melody, Billionaire Boys Club, Fountains of Wayne, and yes, the Replacements. – Jim Testa

about

With a name borrowed from a Jack London short story, an indie rock work ethic, and a penchant for melody, harmony, and heart- ... more in-your-mouth-foot-on-your-sleeve lyrics The Successful Failures burst onto the scene out of the NJ pinelands in 2006. The band has released 3 full length CDs and toured in support of all. The Successful Failures 4th album will be released in March of 2012. less
